Giving Hope During Lockdown

Every week we at The Salvation Army Bendigo support many people who suffer from social isolation through a range of programs. This has been very challenging over the last 6 months as most of our programs had to stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic meaning long periods of isolation for many people we support. We had to resort to maintaining contact with people via phone or computer but this was no replacement for face to face.

As we entered the second Lockdown in Victoria we noticed that the mental health of people was starting to decline due to the isolation. For example one lady we are supporting has been separated from her husband for several months because he is a fly-in-fly-out worker and has been stuck in WA. We were wanting to do something to brighten their day when the opportunity came along to get some Empower Packs through Good360. We were able to use these packs to drop off at people's homes to give them a little surprise to break up the monotony of the lockdown. The feedback we received was that these packs brought a lot of joy to people and a sense of hope moving forward. These little moments of joy make a big difference at this time.

Thanks so much Good360 and all donors.
