Empowering our Primary School Leavers

The Salvation Army Launceston actively engages across our local community to bring hope, care and support. During 2020, we have built invaluable relationships with residents in the Launceston suburb of Waverley, an area which was assessed as being within the top 3% of disadvantaged suburbs in Australia in the most recent census. We are working with community-led initiatives to help establish food security, collaboration through the local Community Co-operative stall, and a deeper sense of local community spirit.

This has included building relationships with the Waverley Primary School. We were so glad to be able to recently order the Junior Empower Packs, which have been used as a gift and encouragement to the Grade 6 students who will be leaving at the end of this year to go to high school.

Alison Alessio, from Waverley Primary, shares this:
"Dear Good360 & the Salvation Army,
All of the students from 5/6A at Waverley Primary would like to say a massive thank you for our spectacular gifts. They have been gratefully received, especially the calculators and money boxes (oh, and the chocolates!).

We were so excited to receive such an extensive goody bag filled with things we will use straight away. The picture shows us holding up our favourite item, thank you again!
Kind regards,
5/6 Alessio Class of 2020"
