We care about the Mental Health & wellbeing of our elderly community

What a tough year 2020 had been for all people from all walks of life due to the pandemic and associated lockdowns! It was even tougher for elderly people who had to restrict their movements and social interactions even further. Mental health and wellbeing became a great challenge, and many were already overwhelmed with physical health struggles, social isolation, lack of access to care and financial stress.

That's when we, South Kingsville Community Centre, received a generous donation from Good360. The Empower Packs we received were so wonderful. When the lockdown was lifted, we invited our craft groups elderly members and some other vulnerable people to our community centre and gave them the Empower Packs. These were like ‘Magic stones’ and instantly put smiles on everyone's faces. They were so happy to feel that they are cared and thought about.

The Empower Packs are a simple, practical way to show that we care. A phone call to let them know and invite them to the centre; handing them the Empower Packs full of wonderful gifts; taking a picture - all these things brought a sense of connection, comfort and renewed hope and joy to the elderly people in our community. They keep talking about it to others, and even this is helping their mental health. Each of them were very appreciative for the generosity of these beautiful gifts.
