Headphones for Regional Schools

Secondary school students from 60 regional, remote and low socio-economic metropolitan high schools have received much-needed headphones to promote remote learning stemming from a partnership between The University of Queensland (UQ), Virgin Australia and Good360 Australia.
The headphones have been vital to allow schools to provide additional support in a variety of online learning opportunities largely necessitated due to COVID-19 imposed learning environments.

Many schools have shared stories about the great benefit for students, including:

“We are using the headphones for the Immersive Reader program that is being trialled with the Year 7 EALD Science class. The headphones are needed so that students can listen to texts being read as it is shown line by line on the laptop screen... This program has increased their willingness to engage with texts and has increased their level of independent learning as the students are able to access texts at their own pace."

“These earphones are beneficial for students– as the school continues to transition into BYO Device and classes continue to evolve and become increasingly reliant on technology – headphones allow students to listen to videos and teacher audio recordings on their own device or school desktops/laptops without having to share earphones. Given the current COVID-19 climate... access to these earphones increases the capacity for students to engage in learning.”
