The Mission To Seafarers - Docklands has been caring for sailors in the Ports of Melbourne since 1857, and in this pandemic year, our work has been more important than ever.
Seafarers are working for us harder and longer than is legally allowed and unable to come ashore for even the most basic of items.
The care packages have been a welcome relief to the crews, especially at Christmas time! Imagine being away from family and friends with nothing special about the day, as you haven't been able to get a gift or a nice treat for the day.
The Mission was able to deliver over 1,100 Christmas bags with books from Booktopia, gift items from LEGO and BIG W, as well as body wash from Palmolive.
The document folders have been great to help us stay organised and the microfibre cloths have also helped us to keep our place COVID-19 safe and ready for the seafarers to return to their 'home away from home.'
