Helping Women & Children in the Playford Community

The Playford women’s shed is a local community centre, utilising an old school building's wing.

Raelene Wlochowicz, our founder and chair, created the first-ever South Australian Women’s Shed. This was created based on the idea of the men’s shed and the need for women to have a safe place to meet.

Women from all backgrounds and nationalities, can become a member and have a place to learn new skills, create new friends and have access to free food and support for ladies who have escaped domestic violence.

Women come to us in need of clothing, homewares, sanitary items, nappies, baby clothes, etc, as they have escaped a DV situation and are starting fresh.

The products we received from Good360 were gifted to children that recently came into the women’s shed with their mums, asking us for help with clothing and other items.

We found it better to separate all of the items out of the Empower Packs we received and allow the women’s to create their own ‘goodie bag’ for their kids, by selecting what items they wanted. This gave the women a CHOICE to choose rather than be told what they’d receive.

These ladies were able to gift their children a brand new LEGO/bracelet set.
The new pens and pencil cases were perfect for the children having to start at a new school suddenly.

Thank you Kogan, SC Johnson, Huggies and Good360.
