Volunteers Create Positive Potential at Sunshine Coast Dharma Centre

Chenrezig Institute is a Tibetan Buddhist retreat and study centre affiliated with the Federation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition. Nestled in the hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia, the Institute was among the first Tibetan Buddhist centres in the Western World and remains one of the largest.

The Institute is home to a Tibetan teacher, Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim, a number of ordained nuns and monks, and a thriving community of students, volunteers and guests. We provide a range of Buddhist and secular programmes through which people’s minds and hearts can be transformed for the benefit of others.

The centre has accommodation facilities, a vegetarian cafe called Big Love Cafe, library, meditation hall, art studio, memorial garden and beautiful grounds which are all open to the general public.

We recently ordered Qantas Pyjamas Packs, Wrapped White Tea Soaps, T-Shirts, Lush Fresh & Clean Bath & Body gift packs as part of the Welcome Kit and as Thank You gifts for our live-in volunteers. When we presented them, one volunteer expressed her surprise having only just arrived from overseas was so delighted with her pyjamas, she immediately went to put them on.

Our organization relies upon the energy, enthusiasm and efforts of volunteers. We are very proud of each person who makes the crucial decision to support us. Their dedication, their time, their energy, and their skills allow us to be what we are and make us who we become.
