People from around Buronga, Gol Gol, Euston, Dareton and Wentworth, in far west NSW, attended Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation (CHAC) for a community event providing BIG W clothing.
Despite temperatures soaring into the high 30°C and low 40°C, cozy warm track pants, hoodies and sweaters flew out of the boxes into the happy arms of people choosing for themselves, family members and other loved ones.
“Warm clothes are usually hard to find here in summer. I’m so grateful to BIG W for providing warm clothes that I can wear to dialysis. Three times a week, I sit for hours in the freezing cold hospital dialysis unit, chilling right to my bones even though it’s boiling hot outside. These fleecy clothes will stop me feeling so cold and take away the aches that I get on dialysis days. I’ll be able to wear them when the weather gets cooler here. It will make such a big difference. Thank you.”
Long sleeved t-shirts were taken to help keep the mosquitos off, provide sun protection and for winter warm. Short sleeved t-shirts are worn all year round, giving extra layered warmth in winter.
The event helped bring community together, reducing social isolation, providing an opportunity to get wonderful, brand new clothing while save money to purchase fuel, food and Christmas presents.
Thank you BIG W Mildura and Good360 for caring for our community.
