The Big W clothes have been an amazing gift to individuals and families accessing Nexus Care in the last 4 months. A fortnight ago, we met a family of 6 asylum seekers who had recently been impacted by the Brisbane floods. They lost a number of household items including clothes, a washing machine and a lawn mower. With no access to Centrelink support, they had little ability to replace the items they'd lost. To make matters worse, the family then had to isolate themselves shortly after due to COVID-19 meaning they missed out on two weeks of work. Nexus Care was able to come alongside this family with our food and financial support, but also could offer bags of high-quality, new Winter clothes for the mum, dad and 4 children to replace some of what they had lost. We were also able to surprise the children with some gorgeous LEGO sets to help out in the school holidays. Thank you Good360, Big W and LEGO for your generosity to families who are in challenging situations.
