Supporting carers doing it tough

This year we have once again supplied gifts to children who live in our Out Of Home Care system. The gifts are for them to pass onto their siblings who they often are not living with and have limited contact with. These gifts give the children an opportunity to not only learn about the pleasure of giving but also for those receiving the gift, a special connection to their sibling with a reminder from the gift received.

Each of the parents and grandparents/carers I have contacted regarding the Christmas presents have been extremely grateful and surprised. As each of these families are struggling with a range of issues from health, mental health, trauma, family breakdown etc., and life can often feel like an ongoing struggle. These Christmas gifts will bring a smile to the faces of children who are dealing with grief and loss and/or chronic stress who would otherwise have very little to celebrate at Christmas. Please pass on my personal thanks to the people who have helped to make this possible. As a person who has worked in the welfare field for more than 20 years I am always inspired by the kindness of others that helps to provide much needed support for people who experience more challenges than most. Their kindness and yours are greatly appreciated.
