National Literacy week will be held at the end of August. Infinity Community Solutions is grateful to receive numerous books from Booktopia for distribution to children in out-of-home care.
Reading with children nurtures a love of language. It helps to stimulate brain development and develop new knowledge. Books are a great way to support new discoveries in a child’s mind through imagination. But importantly books encourage a love for the written word.
As a child’s vocabulary expands so too do their academic and social opportunities. Learning words through reading helps improve both the written and spoken ability of children. And encouraging reading from an early age supports a child throughout their school life and beyond.
Research has demonstrated the importance of building secure relationships with children through reading together along with developing positive attitudes towards literacy when love for reading is role modelled. With these books donated by Good360 and their supporters, Infinity Community Solutions is able to provide children in care with an opportunity to sit with their caregivers and embrace the joys and benefits reading can provide.
