Our Toy Library is in its 30th year of supporting local families in the inner north of Melbourne. We offer a selection of thousands of toys to borrow every fortnight. The Toy Library is operated on a non-profit basis and is managed by a committee of volunteer members who are elected annually. Our service provides an informal meeting place for local parents with young children in the community, fostering local friendships and combating social isolation.
Play in the early years of life has a profound and lasting influence on a child’s health, wellbeing, and long-term development. Studies have shown early play experiences shape a child’s physical growth, capacity for learning, chances of finishing school, future employability, and even income. Studies in psychology, child development, sociology, pediatrics, neuroscience, and economics have illustrated the importance of play for healthy child development and the potential for play interventions as powerful poverty reduction tools. Through play, children develop the neurological building blocks essential to further learning and growth. They form connections, build social and emotional skills, and develop positive long-term attitudes to discovery and learning.
The shipment of Duplo from Good360 is integral to our collection of early developmental toys. Thank you Good360 and its donor LEGO.
