Cold, rainy days seem to have stretched on and on this winter. With the cost of living increasing and the worsening housing crisis, struggling families in WA are more than ever in need of a helping hand. Vinnies volunteers provide for over 2000 families each month to help with essentials such as food and clothing.
Earlier this year, Vinnies was lucky to be matched with the Big W local store donation program by Good360. We receive a large donation of men's, women and children's clothes that were sorted by two school partners in North and South of the River into handy 'outfit' bags by size and season.
The Winter clothing bags were collected by our metro volunteer groups and the more Summery outfits were sent to our outreach groups in Halls Creek and Roeburne. In these remote communities, clothes are especially welcomed, as access to new clothing is difficult and many children wear dirty or ragged clothing due to lack of availability. Our charity partners were very pleased about the inclusion of brand new women's underwear which is often hard to source.
Vinnies was able to share a large proportion of the donation with other Emergency Relief Groups, such as Margaret Court Community Outreach and Noongar Outreach. They will provide some of the warm hoodies and jackets to people sleeping rough in Perth streets and MCO will include the remaining clothes within their free Emergency Relief shop.
Thank you Good360 and Big W for the amazing support and products.
