The floods of July 2021 took so much from so many people, damaging homes, workplaces and transportation. Not to mention the irreplaceable personal treasures, documents, family heirlooms and photos. It was a blow from nature that spared no one. It didn't pick and choose - it made a path of destruction and took whatever was in its way.
So many members of our community lost EVERYTHING and had to start from the beginning all over again. The only things they had to their name were the clothes on their backs and the determination in their hearts.
Big W generously donated a huge amount of personal hygiene products, skin care products, homewares, home decor, shampoos and conditioners. Here at Queensland Youth and Families Support Services, we were able to see first-hand how these items helped our community feel unforgotten.
The products helped our community feel a little more human, and a little more cared for after cleaning up the resident's houses and businesses, washing the mud off and starting to rebuild.
