Recovery begins here - Truckload of furniture to Batlow

A truckload of beds, mattresses and assorted furniture was picked up from Harvey Norman in Sydney and delivered to our Gundagai site on 16th January. Thank you to Good360 for making the match!

Our Gundagai team unloaded and processed the load for delivery to families in the area. The first donation went to a physiotherapist and orchardist from Batlow NSW who arrived with her horse float to collect the furniture. They had lost their home, possessions and orchard but were able to save their animals. She was very grateful for the generosity shown to her and her daughter. The remaining beds were delivered to the families in the affected areas.

Allocating beds was not hard, we talked to key people in Tumbarumba and Batlow to ensure the beds and furniture were given to families who had lost their homes. The list included two generations of one family whose homes were burnt to the ground. Another family who lost their home have six children and they were all given a bed. People are living in temporary accommodation and most only had the clothes they were wearing when the fire went through.

28 people have been blessed by the beds and we have families on the waitlist. New beds arriving this week!
