The Right Furniture at the Right Time

Jewish House provides sheltered accommodation for women and children escaping Domestic Violence, people who are in crisis, the homeless and those experiencing mental health issues often related to drug and alcohol and family breakdown.

We received a large variety of household goods through Good360 and Harvey Norman, ranging from beds, mattresses, outdoor furniture, couches, side tables, bookshelves, lamps, dining tables, chairs and much more. Everything we needed to set up a supported accommodation for homeless people and provide additional furniture to people in need who are just about to move into their own places. These people stay in our services which are scattered around the eastern suburbs and inner west.

The timing of this was critical as we have just secured a 10 room homeless shelter and we were able to fit it out with essential furniture.

We are thrilled and so grateful to receive these goods. All the staff and residents here were completely overwhelmed with the generosity. We are able to create a home and a comfortable place to sleep and live for the most vulnerable people in our community. We usually seek donations of second-hand furniture which is very time-consuming. This was just perfect time and such needed items. As one of the recipients stated "This furniture is so beautiful and the beds are so comfortable, thank you very much!"
