The kindness of strangers

This lady has been to hell and back. Her son recently on a drug-fuelled rampage attacked her savagely. She had to flee from the family home and seek refuge through 4 Voices and other domestic violence charities. He continued harassing her and the police made her surrender her phone so they could monitor the verbal attacks. Being homeless and following an awful series of events, giving her a phone seemed like a small gesture. But to her it was immense. When you are let down like that by a family member, and a relative stranger gives you kindness, well, it's an emotional moment.
