Building LEGO, building relationships

Manjimup Family Centre supports local families and individuals through activities such as playgroups, parenting courses and community activities. Last year we trialed an after-school LEGO club (using borrowed LEGO) to provide an opportunity for school-age children to spend quality time with their parents and other children. The trial was successful, but we needed our own LEGO. The opportunity to obtain some LEGO from Good360 came along just at the right time, and we commenced our 2023 LEGO Club on 7 February. The participants were very excited to build with brand new LEGO kits after previously only having access to older mixed LEGO pieces. And they were also very excited to see the huge variety of new LEGO kits available that they will be able to construct when they next attend. The older children worked together independently, following the instructions to build their LEGO, and also assisted the younger children with their LEGO skills. All participants are fans of Ninjago characters and had a great time role-playing with the characters and the shooting cannon function. The dads stayed to build with their children, and it was a great opportunity for them to spend quality time together, strengthening their relationships, as well as socializing and connecting with others. We are excited by the opportunities for growth and connection that our LEGO Club will bring and are very grateful to Good360 and LEGO Australia for making this possible.
