Glenroy Public School Student Engagement

At our school, LEGO is such a popular ‘go-to’ activity, enjoyed by children of all ages. Some of our students do not have access to LEGO outside the school environment, so having the opportunity, to explore it at school is very exciting for them.
At break times children have the option of going to the library to work on a LEGO creation. Children who are heightened in the playground or simply want some quiet time, have benefited enormously from this opportunity. It has had a positive impact on self-esteem. When children show off their creations, they emanate such a sense of success when a project is completed.
The LEGO packs have been a catalyst for creating new friendships. Children come to the library and may start a project by themselves, but end up helping and supporting others or being supported themselves, problem-solving together, initiating conversations with other children, and most importantly, developing a sense of belonging and something special to look forward to at break times. Being able to provide these opportunities for our students reinforces our school values of respect, responsibility, and resilience.
Block sets are also utilized in the classroom during learning time (particularly maths sessions) and brain break times. On wet weather days, LEGO brings some sunshine into the classroom during lunch and recess.
As a whole school, we are very grateful to be supported by Good360 and LEGO. Thank you.
