LEGO for the Elderly

Our organization services aged care and NDIS clientele from Parramatta to the Blue Mountains to Windsor. We have recently received a shipment of LEGO from Good360 and distributed them to a few of our clients in both categories.
The LEGO given to elderly clients was used as a way to interact with their grandchildren. Having to help the children put together LEGO allows the aged care clients to keep moving their hands and keep their minds active. Having LEGO also entices the grandchildren to get excited to see their grandparents which in turn makes them want to visit more often, making the client feel less isolated.
For our NDIS participants, it allows them to use motor skills to assemble LEGO together or use it to build different objects. We have both older NDIS participants who enjoy using their hands to build along with young NDIS participants. LEGO can be used for much more than building, for example, they use to group different shapes, colors, and sizes together. They can also be used as a counting tool.
Thank you Good360 and LEGO
