LEGO Providing Positive Therapeutic Experiences

Tom is a young boy who has had multiple foster placement breakdowns and has moved many times because he has not been safe in the care of trusted adults. Despite many traumatic experiences in his past, Tom is so resilient. Tom still experiences the world as though it is unsafe and he needs to protect himself. Through the work of OurSPACE, Tom found a home to live in that he experiences as safe, with carers who are committed to learning and growing in their care for him and the complexities that come with this. Tom loves LEGO, and when he knew our therapy together was coming to an end, he asked me if he could have some LEGO to build together. I was so pleased to be able to give this to him when we had our last session! Tom wanted to keep going until he finished building it, and didn’t want me to leave before it was done as he wanted me to see the final product! When he completed it, he was proud of his efficient efforts and placed it on his bedside table to be able to remember the completed work we had done together both in the OurSPACE program and with the LEGO!
Thank you all for giving me this opportunity to finish well with Tom. It is never easy to finish working with a young person, but for Tom, this truly was a good goodbye!
This is just one example of the many children who have benefited from the work of Good360.
