In September 2023, a unit made up of 32 Cubs and 9 Volunteer Leaders and parent helpers from Red Hill, Somerville, and Upper Beaconsfield headed off to the Victorian Cuboree Open for Adventure.
Cuboree is a major 5-day/ 4-night camp for Cubs held every 3 years. This camp is a huge event with over 3000 Cubs attending from around Victoria.
The Cubs aged 8yrs-11yrs have spent the last 12 months preparing for this adventure, achieving badge work in camping and outdoor adventure. They have also been fundraising to help pay for their participation costs plus specialised gear to take with them. To help keep costs down we were lucky enough to receive black t-shirts from Good360. These t-shirts were then kindly printed by one of our Leaders with the names of each Cub plus the Unit's nickname. Having all the Cubs in matching t-shirts helps the Leaders and parent helpers recognize the Cubs easily when out and about at the camp taking part in activities. The Cubs then got to keep their t-shirts as a souvenir of the event even though some of them went home very muddy!!
