CARAD provides welfare support and advocacy for the rights of people seeking asylum in WA, particularly for those with nowhere else to turn. The people we assist are often destitute, with no income or work rights, and struggling to cover their basic needs while awaiting the outcome of their protection visa application or appeal. Their needs include casework, emergency relief, access to health care, food or material aid support, social inclusion, and advocacy for their rights. People seeking asylum are not eligible for any government allowances or benefits. They have no financial safety net. Many of them came to CARAD and asked for help to cover their basic needs: housing, food, health care, and hygiene.
More than half of the people we support are women and while our primary focus is supporting them with their basic needs of housing, food, and health care is always positively received. Being able to provide 50 women with products from Good360 was a very welcome gift received by them as they are rarely given brand-new clothes and personal items.

“I am writing to thank every single person in CARAD who made my darkness bright. Your honest assessment and appropriate assistance has put me in a safe place. Those smiles healed a lot of wounds in my heart and mind. Thanks to the honest assessment of my case, a respectful & holistic approach was done to strengthen my spirit. CARAD guided me to where I am now, I am going to stand on my feet soon!”
We thank Good360 and its donors
