LEGO DUPLO bricks come in all shapes and sizes, in all the colours of the rainbow and this makes the bricks more fun and inviting for students to learn, it also helps develop their cognitive skills and even maths when counting the pieces.
From “hands-on” fine motor skills to social skills, playing with LEGO DUPLO inspires, facilitates and supports our young student’s imagination, curiosity and courage to conquer the world, one little step - and one big DUPLO brick - at a time.
Teachers can plan a play-based learning activity in their Discovery time for small groups to build with their Buddies. This collaborative teamwork encourages a joint focus while sharing a build reinforces positive behaviour and social contact.
The children learn how to communicate with one another. Language skills are developed, adding in ideas about negotiation and compromise.
One of our exec teaching staff commented that the real learning power of LEGO lies in its open-ended nature. LEGO is not a toy that comes with a single function. The more a child is immersed and “lost” in an activity, the more their ability to focus develops.
Playing with DUPLO can even have a calming and relaxing effect and can be helpful for children who may have anxiety or worries. It can even bring a feeling of order to a chaotic or stressful day and can have huge therapeutic benefits for some students.
We are so very thankful to GOOD360 and LEGO for this incredible DUPLO gift for our student's learning journey :-)
