The Areyonga community is a very remote Indigenous community 230km West of Alice Springs, we have 15 students who study with us in Murray Bridge. The students are very thankful for the opportunity to learn, if they stay in their community, schooling stops after year 6, so they must travel to learn.
We have a partnership with the Areyonga community, this helps when the students get homesick, as they have family in older brothers, sisters or cousins who also study at the school and can support them in settling into school life.
We would love to thank Good360 for supporting the students who study at our school. Having a laptop and internet is something that they could only dream of back home, they will treasure this moment
The students were gifted laptops to communicate with family while studying with us. When the students return to the community the senior students will use them in Areyonga to continue learning, we hope they will be able to capture events that occur with the Elders on Country
The students are excited to be using these to support their learning and develop skills that can be passed on to others who do not have the opportunity to learn as they do.
One of the students said she is hoping to take some good photos that she will be able to use when she returns to school next term, she can then share her learning on the country with her teachers in SA
Thanks for your support once again
