Laptops to link with community.

The donated laptops were gifted to single adults and families who are clients of our Specialist Homelessness Services.
6 families received laptops, enabling them to maintain their household administration, explore further study or employment options and support their children in their studies.
7 men experiencing homelessness and the impacts of trauma are now able to engage in managing their accounts with Centrelink, banking and other administrative tasks. They also identified their potential for furthering their education and exploring employment opportunities.
Providing a year's worth of OPTUS data means they will have ample opportunity to change their trajectory.

Andrew is a 36-year-old man who came to Samaritan House following an inpatient admission at Canberra Hospital AMHU and stayed at the Mental Health Institute.
Andrew was born in North America and relocated to Canberra when he married. He has significant mental health issues and the symptoms were exacerbated following his divorce and subsequent episodes of rough sleeping and stay at Ainslie Village. Andrew was attacked by 3 other residents while at Ainslie Village.
Andrew is not well enough to consider re-entering employment at this time but is very interested in entering some further study (he has a bachelor’s degree in engineering) and would very much like to reconnect with family in North America.
Andrew would benefit from having a laptop to attempt to reestablish relationships.
