Melbourne Basket Brigade solely focus on providing essential food hampers and sleeping rough packs to those doing it toughest at Christmas time.
Thanks to Good360 we received boxes of Banana Boat sunscreen which went into our Sleeping Rough Packs that were donated to youth experiencing temporary or ongoing homelessness.
We provided a significant amount of SR packs to the Youth Project in Melbourne CBD which provides a safe place for homeless youth to shower, use the internet and maybe have a meal.
Direct feedback from the Youth Project gifting the packs:
"These packs were a lifeline, containing essential items such as food, sunscreen, water, and hats to shield them from Melbourne’s harsh summer sun. The feedback from our clients was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how the backpacks helped them cope with the outdoor conditions they endure daily. Our Manager of The Living Room Hayley highlighted how quickly the items were distributed, demonstrating the urgent need for such resources among the population we support. The backpacks and food hampers not only provided immediate relief but also represented a gesture of care and support that resonated deeply with them - many of whom feel overlooked by society. One of our clients said on the day “Thank you so much for all of this, I feel like a part of your family and that people care about me”.
