At the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, the vision of "Creating Connected Communities" comes to life every Wednesday afternoon through the Comfort Kitchen program. Recently, an exciting addition was made to this initiative—LEGO Links.
Before enjoying a hot meal, participants, including families facing financial challenges, the elderly, and those experiencing homelessness, gathered around tables for food, creativity, and connection. With LEGO bricks in hand, these individuals embarked on a journey of building—together.
For many, this was more than just an afternoon activity. It was a chance for parents to engage in meaningful play with their children, fostering creativity, teamwork, and communication. The elderly found joy in working with younger generations, breaking down barriers of isolation, and rediscovering the joy of play.
As laughter filled the room, so too did the sense of accomplishment. Children proudly displayed their creations, and families bonded over shared experiences. The event wasn’t just about building LEGO structures; it was about building a stronger, more connected community.
LEGO Links has become a cherished part of the Comfort Kitchen experience, proving that even the simplest activities can have a profound impact on those who need them most.
We are thankful for the support from Good360 and LEGO Australia
