Supporting Poverty in the Bush

After a long drive, the sun was low on the horizon, casting long shadows across the dusty roads as the Dr Steve Foundation Landcruiser and trailer rolled into the remote Aboriginal community. Inside the large trailer were brand new mattresses, and boxes of clothing, shoes, sunglasses, reading glasses, and other items, all gathered from businesses via our donor Good360, who support communities living on the poverty line.
As Dr Steve brought his Landcruiser to a stop at the local Aboriginal Land Council, the CEO of the community and a few board members were the first to gather around, their wide eyes curious and hopeful. The elders and some locals stood a little further back, their faces stoic but appreciative. Visitors don’t often come bearing gifts, and even less often were the gifts as thoughtful and necessary as these.
Dr Steve stepped off the truck and said, “We’ve brought a few things for everyone, clothes, shoes, a new mattresses for those without one or the elderly needing an upgrade, and even some glasses for those who need help seeing better.”
A hush fell over the people gathered as the boxes were opened, and the community members began to sift through the donations. The children’s faces lit up as they pulled out bright-coloured shirts and sturdy shoes, toys, and things they hadn’t had the luxury of choosing before.
The CEO nodded and said, "The community has taken a step forward together today."
A big thank you to Good360 and its corporate sponsors
