Small Comforts, Big Impact.

Uniting's Emergency Relief program in East Burwood supports people in financial hardship and crisis by providing vital aid, including short-term financial assistance, meals, food, personal goods, and No-Interest Loans.
Recently, we welcomed a woman with multiple disabilities into our Emergency Relief Hub. She shared how rising medical costs left her unable to afford essentials like winter clothing, socks, underwear, and period products.
Along with toiletries, referrals, and vouchers for winter clothing, our community workers were also able to give her much-needed socks and underwear thanks to this generous donation through Good360. Most notably, we were able to offer her period underwear —a product she had long wanted to try due to her mobility challenges.
She was so grateful to receive this assistance and expressed how receiving these items lifted a burden she had been carrying for months.
Our community workers shared some of their thoughts on the impact these donations have had:

"Providing brand new underwear helps us meet a basic need that many consumers share that they struggle with daily."

"These donations help to remind consumers that they are valued and deserving of dignity, no matter their circumstances."

These donations had a positive impact, promoting not just physical comfort but also emotional well-being. Receiving the items also enabled recipients to allocate their resources towards other critical needs such as food, bills and transport.
