As the Christmas season commences, we are pleased to announce a remarkable initiative aimed at supporting regional and remote Aboriginal communities in New South Wales and Queensland. Our Foundation has received a generous donation of toys from HASBRO, facilitated by Good360, marking a significant step forward in our mission to bring joy to children in these communities.
Through our extensive network, we have engaged with over forty Aboriginal communities, offering access to toys through strategically located distribution points in both states. On Saturday, October 26th, dedicated volunteers from the DSB Foundation gathered to sort and organize twenty pallets of toys. This effort was crucial in breaking down the shipments into manageable portions for both central locations and individual communities.
On November 4th, the first allocation of toys departed for Barcaldine, Queensland, where they will be distributed among fifteen individual communities. Additionally, on November 5th, another shipment will head to the South Coast of New South Wales. This batch will be distributed by the Katungul Aboriginal Medical Service to five designated locations, serving nine communities in total.
The distribution of these toys is particularly vital given the challenges faced by many remote and regional communities, which often lack basic electrical connections and struggle to secure adequate food supplies. In such circumstances, purchasing toys for children becomes an unattainable luxury.
