Our Gilgai Village makeover

Some of our Year 5 and 6 students recently participated in a hands-on gardening project that not only gave them a chance to get their hands dirty but also provided valuable lessons in sustainability and teamwork. Thanks to the generous donation from Repurpose It, we were able to transform our new play area, which features a village of cubbies, into a vibrant and engaging space for our students. The students worked together to move donated organic soil and mulch into newly installed garden beds, breathing new life into an area that needed attention.
This project was more than just about beautifying our school grounds—it gave our students a deeper understanding of recycling, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. With guidance from the team at Repurpose It, they learned how organic materials like soil and mulch can play an important role in both creating healthy gardens and reducing waste. The donation of these materials made it possible for our students to see firsthand the positive impact of reusing and repurposing resources.
We are incredibly grateful to Repurpose It and Good360 for making this project possible and for helping us create a lasting, positive impact on both our school community and the environment.
