No Boundaries Disability Support Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation supporting young people living with high/complex intellectual and physical disabilities in our day respite centre. This generous donation of Haunted House LEGO has provided many of our participants with opportunities to improve fine and gross motor skills, dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and so much more.
The LEGO has assisted one of our participants during a time of extreme anxiety. It gave him a sense of control during a situation which had caused him extreme distress. The participant was able to sit down and self-regulate while slowly going through each page of the instruction book. It is really a great tool for supporting emotional regulation.
At No Boundaries, we have a number of participants with autism who find it challenging to understand what to do in a social situation. LEGO has provided a safe space at our tables for participants to sit together in a safe and fun environment, while they build on their social connection with one another.
Our participants have expressed a great sense of pride when completing the LEGO design, which has contributed towards the development of their self-esteem. It is envisioned that continued building tasks will help our participants build confidence in approaching new tasks in the future.
We are truly grateful and wish to thank Good360 and LEGO for their generous donations.
