Coonara Community House was thrilled to pass on LEGO as a donation to a community event known as Backyard Blitz, which is hosted by Yellowstone Landscaping and Servus Group.
Backyard Blitz is a day when the two teams get together and recreate a home for a family in need. This year the family candidate was the Rowlandson Family located in Emerald, Victoria. The backyard was transformed by installing a slide, fixing up the existing chicken coop, creating a fire pit, installing veggie patch and overall garden maintenance. Coonara Community House got involved by volunteering on the day and providing LEGO on the donation table as the family walked into their house, thanks to Good360!
Samantha is a mother to 5 children, with ages ranging from 7 to 13 years old. Last year, Samantha's husband, Adam, suddenly passed away from lung cancer after one month of being diagnosed.
After a family holiday in Queensland, Adam returned home not feeling well. He basically slept for 10 days and woke with chest pains. After a hospital visit, they found a 3mm tumour in his lung. Samantha and Adam were advised that it was so small, and they should not worry just yet. The hospital arranged a biopsy and full body scan two weeks later.
They decided to keep him in hospital and start radiotherapy to shrink the tumours. The doctors told Samantha that Adam should be coming home on the 14th of September after beginning Chemotherapy. On the morning of the 14th of September 2023, Adam sadly passed away.
