groWaverley turns One!

The groWaverley Town Team has made an amazing impact on its local Community of 1500 Residents over the past year. Our Town Team manages a space for community members to share resources, skills and knowledge, the Waverley Community Co-op, groWaverley. Town Teams are non-profit social enterprises building a movement of positive ‘doers’ that enable local communities to connect, organise and create better places.

Waverley Tasmania was ranked in the top 3% of disadvantaged Suburbs across Australia in the 2016 census. Many asset-based community development activities have been undertaken or are in progress by groWaverley in the last year to help connect the community more strongly and raise the capacity of individuals and families.

The local Community Co-op, based around the philosophy of 'Take what you need, Share what you can', has become integral to the Food Sustainability and support of the area and gives out over 500kg of Grocery Item assistance every week.

The groWaverley team recently celebrated their first Birthday with an event for the community. It was awesome to have the support of Good360 via our Friends at The Salvation Army & their generous Donors to provide Kid's Empower Packs to the children that came to the event.

It was great to bless the Children of this Community, not just with a handout but also a bag of goodies, including Art Paints and LEGO Playsets that will help stimulate creativity and the flourishing of their own skills & interests.

Thank You!
