Summer Essential Surprise Initiative

It was a cold winter morning in Brisbane when the Food4Fort team received a call that we would be receiving a shipment of Nike sandals around lunchtime. Fast forward to mid-day, and our team is looking at 10-15 cartons full of Nike sandals.
In the middle of packing winter care packages, our team was unsure of what was the best way to distribute the shoes to the local community, so we sat down and brainstormed ways in which we could give these shoes out to families without overwhelming them with big branded items in winter.
After careful deliberation, we decided to look at our summer care packages and see if we could create specific care packages for babies/young children in the lead-up to summer. As we live in Brisbane we have some of the best weather in Summer and these shoes would be perfect.
So our team came up with an initiative called the "Summer essential surprise". Through the summer sandal surprise initiative, we would put together small summer care packages, that would potentially consist of summer essentials such as a towel, hat, sunscreen, and a pair of Nike sandals which we would distribute via local social medial pages, school groups, and our community kitchens. We will over the next few months keep an eye out for summer essentials and around October begin to distribute the summer care packages out to families.
