Developmentally ready in Belinda’s Room

As a Community Development Coordinator, I'm always looking out for items that will assist families through the support programs they attend. Belinda is a Child Development Worker who works alongside families to support their child’s needs. Families know her program as Belinda’s Room, a safe space for families to connect, learn, and be supported with the challenges/ disadvantages of Child Development, Mental Health, Homelessness, and Domestic violence. Belinda works with families who often need to be supported to learn parenting from the beginning due to their upbringing and intergenerational traumas.
After receiving donations of Children’s Cutlery Sets, Hair Accessories, and Maternity T-Shirts we were able to support families as they went into the Christmas period. After many weeks of working with families, supporting their young children to sit at a table to eat, navigate fussy eating, and introducing cutlery, we were able to give each child a set of cutlery. The children were so excited, one parent said” It’s like he’s graduating, he’s so proud”.
Parents were then able to help themselves with hair items with many adding that they would wrap them as an extra item under the tree for Christmas. Women who were expecting over the next few months were able to take maternity tops. One of the parents was so overwhelmed, that she had only her normal clothes hoping they would fit for the entire pregnancy!
Thank you to Good360 and its donors for their amazing generosity.
