Christmas Assistance

Over four days we were able to assist 244 families with toys, chickens, vegetables, and hampers, including culturally sensitive boxes that catered to various dietary/cultural requirements. Every person was asked about what they were able to contribute to their celebrations, giving each a sense of dignity. Some families just needed help with food, others with just toys. Some provided meat or vegetables, and every family was encouraged in their efforts. Many parents were overwhelmed when taken into the toy room to choose toys for their children. “This is just too much,” exclaimed one parent. It was a joy to see parents being able to choose toys suitable for the unique needs of their children – those with special needs especially. We were also able to provide $30 vouchers for 124 youth (13 to 17 exclusive) and toys for 291 under 12-year-olds. Christmas Day saw another 39 socially isolated people served a two-course meal with treats and gifts, sharing in the fun, laughter, and a sense of community. "Best Christmas ever," exclaimed one guest.
The items from Good360 added to the dignified assistance given - Thank you.
