Hello Initiative State Wide Expansion

Hello Initiative’s flagship program, the Mobile Support Program (MSP), has expanded to include the entirety of Western Australia! The MSP provides young people involved in youth justice with a refurbished smartphone and reliable access to mobile credit. This essential communication tool empowers young people to improve their social and judicial outcomes and exit WA’s messy youth justice system as quickly as possible. Good360 and Optus have provided 180 SIM cards and mobile credit worth over $65,000 helping 180 young people to connect with their youth workers, family, community, and essential services. A smartphone is no longer a luxury item, it is an essential tool for operating in an increasingly digital society and the Mobile Support Program enables young people to access support services and improve their outcomes through these devices.
Outcome data from the MSP shows that young people over the last 6 months;
61% complied with their bail conditions,
75% successfully completed their community orders,
62% had no new charges laid against them during their engagement,
70% accessed education/training/employment services,
41% accessed mental health services, and
26% accessed alcohol and other drug support services.

Since its inception, Hello Initiative has supported over 500 young people in WA on the Mobile Support Program and thanks to Good360 and Optus we will be able to continue to offer this impactful service at an incredibly affordable rate.
