What causes type 1 diabetes (T1D)? The ENDIA Study (Environmental Determinants of Islet Autoimmunity Study) is working hard to find out. We do this by following little people at higher genetic risk of developing the condition because one of their family members has T1D.
Each study visit with ENDIA involves questionnaires, swabs, and donations of urine, stool and a sample of blood.
The blood tests are not a favourite of our ENDIA participants. But a pack of LEGO after certainly brightens their faces and their day.
Thank you, Good360 and LEGO for helping us continue our research whilst also bringing smiles to the people most important to us, the participating children.
This is Cooper from Queensland who has played with his Dinosaur every day since.
