Delivering Little Red Bags of Joy

Churches of Christ in Queensland is a leading provider of solutions for people in housing need. Families living in our Crisis Accommodation Program are supported by a Housing Support Worker. The support aims to help these families to overcome barriers that have previously affected their ability to access and sustain long term housing.

Housing Support Worker Dominee describes the impact the family and children Empower Packs - ‘little red bags of joy’ – will have on one of the families she is currently supporting.

'These packs will go to a young father doing his best to hold his family of five together. The children range in age between 3 and 13 years old. Prior to entering our Crisis Accommodation Program the father had the two eldest children in his care and was living at a friend’s place. The younger children had been living with their mother but were recently removed from her care by child safety. The father now cares for all five children full time. The children all have significant needs however the father is willingly working with family support services to assist him and his children. For this family, receiving the Empower Packs from Good360 allows them to have a break from the stress’s day to day life can bring. The bags will bring smiles to the children’s faces and for a moment allow them to indulge in items they would normally be unable to afford.’
