Henry is a research superhero

Henry participates in the ENDIA Study which is looking into the causes of type 1 diabetes. If we know what triggers the autoimmune process, we can prevent the condition for future generations.
Henry has been seeing nurse Alison since he was 6 months of age and he is now 8!! He and his mum, Kate, have not missed a study visit which is an incredible dedication to the cause. A study visit occurs every 3 months until age 2 and then 6 monthly until age 10! Each visit involves a series of questionnaires about lifestyle and nutrition as well as the collection of samples such as wee, poop, swabs, and blood.
The blood sample is the least favorite part of ENDIA for the children. It can sometimes be painful or uncomfortable, even though we have excellent staff who are specialists in taking blood from children. Giving each child a LEGO set distracts the focus from the discomfort of the procedure.
We've worked out that Henry has donated around 18 blood, poop, wee, and swab samples.
Such a fantastic contribution to type 1 diabetes research, Henry! Thanks to his mum, Kate, for saying yes to ENDIA and sticking with us all these years. Thanks also to Kate and Alison (pictured) for connecting us to Good360 to be able to acknowledge the contribution of Henry and his amazing cohort of peers participating in ENDIA. We couldn't find the causes of type 1 diabetes without you all and your precious samples.
Thank you Good360 and LEGO for your service to our cause.
