“Undies fit for an ambulance ride”

At the Salvation Army Mount Gambier, due to a number of different circumstances, we often have community members that present with a need for clothing and in particular, underwear. Thanks to donations received through Good360 it has been wonderful to provide for people in need and these snippets show how we have helped. As well as receiving clothing assistance, clients were given further help in relation to their individual circumstances.
Liesel* presented to us whilst experiencing a mental health episode, she had hopped on an interstate bus leaving her home without a change of clothes. She had wandered the street overnight and came to us seeking assistance. Liesel appreciated being given clean underwear and was referred to an appropriate agency to get support.
Kylie* came to us after fleeing domestic violence and had little more than the clothes she was wearing. We were able to provide Kylie with a basic clothing package.
Marie* is a caregiver to her son. She has been struggling with rent increases. Clothes for herself are a low priority, are often not in the budget, and are always bought 2nd hand. Marie was very grateful to receive some new clothing, in particular undies, as the ones she had “were not fit for an ambulance ride”.
