LEGO....Lovin' it!

Murray Bridge North School is located in the rural city of Murray Bridge, adjacent to the Murray River. Many of our families are impacted by the rising cost of living and experiences of trauma, including the recent floods. For some of our children, the impact of adverse childhood experiences can be visible through dysregulation. The schoolyard can be an overload of sensory input and tricky to navigate when social skills are challenging. This can result in students using unhelpful conflict strategies or becoming withdrawn and having difficulties engaging with peers.
In an attempt to address these yard issues, our school offers proactive play activities at break times, where children can play in an environment with less noise, more structure, and with adult supervision. We are always looking for new ideas for these groups and the LEGO we received was the perfect solution.
The LEGO activity is our most attended group and enables students to develop friendships with support from adults, build cool stuff, and complete break times without stress. The variety of LEGO was wonderful, allowing beginners and experts to work together. The overwhelming response from our students was, “This is awesome!”. Thank you Good360 and LEGO Australia.
