LEGO Hub Masters

Our school site has a relatively high number of students with complex backgrounds and therefore complex behaviours. We are always looking for different ways to support these students and enhance their social and emotional learning.
We have previously used the support of Good360 to acquire LEGO for our school. Our intention then was to develop a LEGO ‘hub’ where we could encourage students to become creators and story makers – using LEGO to spark their creativity and imagination.
What we discovered, though, was that the LEGO hub we were developing was having other effects as well – particularly with several of our behaviourally challenging students. We found that LEGO was helping to calm and regulate dysregulated students. The process of being creative and having to focus and concentrate was helping students calm and become regulated in a shorter time than usual.
We have also discovered that LEGO is supporting our students with their Social and Emotional learning, developing skills such as patience, persistence, and resilience.
What we had planned for the LEGO hub has grown and developed into a far more wide-reaching program in our school and we look forward to the continued support of Good360 as we grow our LEGO hub. Thank you
