Helping the homeless in a crisis

It was just as COVID-19 was starting to significantly disrupt how organisations were able to provide assistance and support to people in need, that Deadly Connections received a cry for help from a family in crisis.

Even though this family was located well outside the service area for Deadly Connections, we could not say not to this fantastic family. With a young child undergoing chemotherapy, they had just been made homeless.

We supported the family into temporary accommodation and set about securing a permanent housing solution that could meet the unique medical needs of the family close to the hospital, where one of the children was receiving daily chemotherapy.

After spending three weeks in a hotel room, things were not looking good. Then we received the fantastic news an offer of a brand new four-bedroom house came through.

It was such a big house, and we were at a loss as to how we might be able to fill it with furniture.

Then along came Good360 and turned this house into a home with thanks to Harvey Norman. There were many tears and expressions of gratitude from the family. It was so wonderful to provide this family access to things well beyond their capability at such a vulnerable time in their lives.

This kind of donation allowed the extended family to stay, providing the support required to assist with the completion of chemotherapy.

Thank you Good360 and Harvey Norman for helping to make this house a home.
