World Ocean Day

World Ocean Day unites and rallies the world to protect and restore our blue planet. World Ocean Day supports collaborative conservation, working with its global network of youth and organisational leaders in over 140 countries. It gives people the chance to contribute to a cleaner, safer ocean.
Volunteering Gold Coast has collaborated with some of the biggest organisations on the Gold Coast to clean up the waterways of The Spit and celebrate the ocean for World Ocean Day on 8 June 2021.
Our Corporate Clean-Up was a huge success and we've collected:
348 cigarette butts and 102 pieces of hard plastic,
Overall it was 74.5kg (this was weighed with a scale so not estimated).
Every participant was provided with a bottle of water and sunscreen as they had collected rubbish for 2 hours in the sun. We are incredibly grateful to Good360 for kindly providing us with the Hawaiian Tropic Duo Defence sunscreen. Thanks, Good360 and Edgewell Personal care for keeping our participants sun safe.
