Empowerment Packs Help to Lift Spirits

The heaviness of COVID-19 has surrounded and invaded our community. Darkness fills daytime with worry for loved ones, community and self. Who will be next to catch COVID-19, go into emergency accommodation for isolation or to the hospital where it may be a one-way ride?
“The Empowerment Packs remind us that we aren’t forgotten and give us something else to focus on and let people know we care. Thank you.”
“I’ve got it” is the text message from a single parent, who had been in tears only a few days before talking about their fears for their children who had tested COVID positive and what would become of them if they, the parent, got it and died. Frantically cleaning the walls of their home, trying to remove any virus lingering, searching for help while drowning in not knowing what to do.
Many healthy people are too frightened to leave their homes to shop for essentials.
Some people don’t have cars, having to walk kilometres with their young children to get COVID-19 tested and whatever essentials they need.
With heartfelt thanks, to Good360 and its wonderful donors, Empowerment Packs (gifts of strength, care and hope) are being delivered by the local COVID emergency relief team (of which Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is part) to people testing positive and/or in isolation to people in the Balranald, Buronga, Gol Gol, Dareton and Wentworth areas of Far West NSW.
Packs were also given out as part of R U Ok day activities.
