Resilience and Preparation

On the 5th of July, we were lucky to host a Community Flood preparedness day that was a combination of a celebration of the Communities resilience, NAIDOC week, and flood preparation. Community members affected by floods were invited to attend our building and were assisted by our staff to complete an online flood preparation plan for their properties, they were able to save and print their plans. We were able to have our support workers sit down one on one with each community member and talk about their personal, needs and wants. A Flood preparation pack that included a torch, batteries, first aid kit, portable radio, gloves, and general information was provided to all members of the community who attended. Community members were provided with items to assist in their readiness for future floods and to assist in their recovery. We were able to provide the community members with a wonderful Phillips Avent blender that will make looking after their families just that little bit easier, We were able to provide basic clothing, shoes, and household supplies to all those in need thanks to Good360 and its donor partners.
Community members were treated to basic food supply hampers to take home and share with their families. A wonderful morning tea and BBQ lunch was enjoyed by all. The day was well represented by a broad range of community members, our staff were delighted in the opportunity to talk with people and to provide assistance to all.
