Christmas outreach to those experiencing homelessness

Once a term this year, Christian Life Church Kyogle has conducted outreach with several other local community agencies to encourage and assist people who are experiencing homelessness in Kyogle. Some people have recently become homeless, while others have been forced to live in tents and caravans for months and even years. The current housing crisis since the COVID pandemic was worsened by the floods of Feb 2022. There is little sign of improvement for many and they often feel isolated and forgotten.
Good360 donations have meant that at every outreach, we have been able to provide an assortment of new items to giveaway, alongside some second-hand items we have acquired through local donors. This time, the new items of toiletry packs, sunscreen, water bottles, men's shirts and belts, and backpacks were distributed to every person we met. Pets can be the best companions for isolated people. The ability to give new pet blankets added a special Christmas feel to this outreach.
Another agency provides a BBQ lunch, and we can sit with clients to hear their stories, or simply to have a chat and a laugh. These outreach events have created a community among those living at the local showgrounds and enabled some clients to reach out for more formal assistance.
Thank you to Good360 and all the generous donors for enabling us to care for these people experiencing homelessness.
